Views of Mauritius - Year 2011

Poeple have always been asking me about Mauritius. Some have heard about it, about its beaches and its beautiful sceneries. Others have simply heard of its name. But most are unaware of its exact location.

Tourists who visited it call it Paradise, the local people simply know it as Home. I have always wanted to make a website dedicated to photos of the exceptional and extraordinary views of the daily life in Mauritius. From its architecture, to its fauna and flora, passing through the breath-taking views of the sunsets and beaches.

Here are a few of the photographs that I took during my last visit there. I always feel nostalgic whenever I look at them. They remind me of Home. Hopefully, I will be able to go back there and settle down for good.

By the way, this is by far the largest photo gallery I have ever uploaded on my blog. It consists of 100 over photos. I hope you enjoy them.

Balaclava

The northern part of Mauritius is well-known for its beaches. It is often said that the North is where the best beaches of the island are. Yet, one may find that there are many areas, although accessible to the general public, are easily forgotten. Not many people would venture there. For the very few who do, they will discover the natural beauty that these beaches offer. Magnificient views of the Port Louis mountain ranges. There are lush hotels there as well, for the very few who can afford the sky high price tags.

The beaches are meant for the general public. I took some photographs there as well. There are not many spots where one can swim due to the rocky surface of the water. However, one can be mesmerized by the tranquility of Balaclava beach, the amazing views of the Sunset, as well as the gentle marine breeze.

Ile aux Cerfs - Mauritius Part 1

Ile aux Cerfs, small island, off the east coast of Mauritius. Isolated from the mainland, yet only few minutes away by boat. There are lush beaches, a wonderful golf court, and of course white sand. I went there during my last trip to Mauritius. In fact, the be precise, I went fishing and we dropped by the island to rest and for lunch.

I walked around, with my SLR and snapped some photos. On that particular day, the tide was low, the water level receeded, revealing patches of beaches and freeing pathways that are usually not accessible.
