Outdoors photography, especially in the afternoon, where the sun is heavy above you, requires the use of a Polarizer. I did not have one on the Canon 5D on that day. I had a UV filter and that was it.
I still have a few more photos taken on that day that I would like to upload on my photoblog. I need to resize them first, if not I take forever to upload them.
By the way, all my photos are taken using JPEG compression @ 21 Million pixels. It gives very large and sharp images, big enough and good enough if you want to print them as posters.
After I resize them I usually upload them on 900 x 600, just nice to fit any laptop screen.
